TechCamps are hands-on, participant-driven workshops that connect private sector technology experts with key populations — journalists, non-governmental organizations, civil society advocates, and more — to explore and apply innovative tech solutions to global issues. TechCamps are focused on results, with participants identifying real-world challenges and working in partnership with trainers to apply technology solutions to these challenges.
TechCamp Kosovo is a regional event for participants from Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia. It aims to increase public confidence in the free press and in democratic institutions by helping participants better detect and fight against false news, disinformation, and associated threats such as fake accounts.
FLOSSK organized a TechCamp in 2018 and is organizing another one in 2021. The camp will aid participants in countering disinformation on public platforms by providing them with practical knowledge, skills, and tools that can be used immediately in their everyday jobs. This project is supported by the US Embassy in Kosovo.
