State of the Map Southeast Europe 2019 was the OpenStreetMap and Geographic Information Systems Conference organized in Prizren, Kosovo.
SotM SEE was a three-day conference that brought together stakeholders in the OpenStreetMap and geographic information systems (GIS) ecosystem. Mappers, software developers, academicians, NGOs, business leaders and users of OpenStreetMap from Southeastern Europe countries who came together to create opportunities for high level knowledge exchange, experience and intercultural exchange, and for network and partnerships.
The conference took place in the last week of October 2019 in Prizren, Kosovo’s cultural capital, which historically has been a meeting place of cultures and of religious tolerance.
Our target audience were students or younger generations and local mapping communities from the region. We believe that engagement of this audience will promote and develop GIS skills with focus toward employability, so skills are built and youth are made aware of careers in this field. We are already in contact with companies that are particularly interested in this sector.
The conference was supported largely by the German Government through GIZ Kosovo and held at the Innovation and Training Camp in Prizren.
