EqualiTECH is a regional hackathon held in order to use the technological potential of young people in the Western Balkans for the fight against injustice and inequality. The hackathon was held online on 11-13 December 2020 and was open to all participants aged 18-35 from the Western Balkans countries. Five groups worked together to develop their ideas as much as they could to help marginalized groups in the region. Teams spent their time by working online, while the mentors were always ready to answer their questions.
EqualiTECH 2020 challenges were:
Access to legal services for marginalized communities;
Identifying friendly places for minority groups;
Identifying the challenges that human rights organizations are facing with access to justice during the COVID-19 pandemic;
Addressing access to information during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two winning groups continued working on their projects until March 2021. EqualiTECH was organized together with Civil Rights Defenders.
