Project Description:
Software Freedom Kosova 2014 was a three-day event focused on promoting free and open-source software through a series of lectures and practical workshops. The initiative aimed to enhance technical skills, foster collaboration, and demonstrate the application of open-source technologies to developers, system administrators, and tech enthusiasts in Kosovo.
Activities:
– Conducted a full day of six diverse sessions on the first day, covering topics from Docker to data visualization
– Delivered practical workshops on Docker for application development, Laravel and Backbone.js for web development, MongoDB with RESTful services in Python/Flask, CartoDB for data visualization on maps, open-source digital collection management, and data conversion from PDF to other formats
– Facilitated hands-on demonstrations with participant engagement under the guidance of international and local experts
– Hosted a conference on the second day at the Faculty of Philology, University of Pristina, followed by additional practical workshops on the third day to build technical skills
Beneficiaries:
The primary beneficiaries were university students, developers, system administrators, and tech enthusiasts in Kosovo interested in advancing their knowledge and practical skills in free and open-source software technologies.
